LEADERSHIP AND SUPPORT
I've been really lucky to have mentors in Lesley Rochat (Shark Warrior) and Ken Jones (A Team for Wildlife). I found my first mentor in my mom and she still is my biggest fan and supporter.
I found Lesley Rochat when I did research about protecting sharks and came across her website. I wrote an email to her when I was 9 years old and she wrote me back! From there, we started writing back and forth and it lead to her asking me to be AfriOceans first international ambassador.
It was through Lesley that Ken Jones, the founder of A Team for Wildlife found me. He has been really supportive and encourages me with many ideas for what I can do to raise awareness in my community and in my school.
My story shows that it just takes something as simple as reaching out to someone you admire with an email to request a connection. The hardest part might be your fear of a no answer or of rejection. If you don't ask, the answer always will be "no".
